Ah Five Hainanese Chicken Rice 亚五海南雞飯 & Hoyeah Nasi Lemak: Get 'Em All at one Coffeeshop (TE6 Mayflower)
Planned to try out the well-known Malaysian HupKee Fishball Noodle
for Sunday Lunch but was unfortunately sold out when we reached. Being a blessing in
disguise, we were able to find out other decent hawker stall never tried
before.
Right next to HupKee is Ah Five Hainanese Chicken Rice, opened by
children of popular Five Star Chicken Rice's recipe owner. They
learned the technique of cooking Kampung chicken from their dad and came
up new dishes fried rice and porridge.
We ordered the one pax chicken rice meal ($5). The kampong chicken is quite tender and is definitely the better ones in
Singapore. However, there was the issue of too much rice and too little
meat. Would not mind having more meat since it was tasty.

The second stall was Melaka-Nyonya style Hoyeah Nasi Lemak. We ordered
Chicken Thigh Set ($5), it comes with its specialty Omelette on rice
cooked with Indian spice Uluba. The fried chicken is marinated with their
secret recipe and comes with a special pepper smell. Rice was a bit dry but
it went well with the sweet sambaI. I find that the omelette was nothing
special since some nasi lemak stalls sell this kind of egg as well. Save 50
cents if you get the usual version of a sunny side egg at $4.50 .
There are also two other outlets located in Ang Mo Kio and Bukit
Merah.
