Not willing to queue for Omoté on
our first visit, we headed for Hajime Tonkatsu & Ramen which had an
outlet in Thomson Plaza besides its flagship store at Serangoon Gardens
myVillage. This outlet in Upper Thomson is definitely easier to reach by
public transport after the Thomson East Coast Line has opened.
We could finally try the highly raved Tonkatsu and it was indeed
excellent. Ordered the Nagoya Miso Tonkatsu (pork fillet instead of
pork loin) we heard that pork loin tends to be a tougher cut than fillet.
Indeed, this fillet was tender inside and crunchy on the outside. We were
glad the miso gravy was served at the side as it was very salty.
