Thanks to the chance of celebrating family member's birthday, we had the
chance to try out Zui Yu Xuan located in Far
East Square within a two storey
heritage building. You get to enter a beautiful ancient Chinese doorway
into an inner courtyard before reaching the restaurant front door.
We started off with the Teochew Classic Platter 潮州精选拼盘, which contains Deep Fried 'Ngoh Hiang' 生炸五香枣, Deep Fried Prawn
Ball虾丸, Pig Trotter Terrine猪脚冻, and Crispy Fried Beancurd Rolls
Stuffed with Prawns海鲜豆腐卷. We like the Prawn Ball more than others,
which are not so special.
Not sure what is the full name of this Pig Stomach Soup 豬肚湯 as it is not in the standard menu but this was very delicious. The savoury
broth is very addictive and we even dabao back cooking as hot pot kind. Hope
they could add this into their regular menu.
Teochew Roasted Suckling Pig Marinated with Five Spices 潮州五香乳豬. This is a must try. Skin is very crispy while meat was soft. It should be quite
costly though. This Deshelled Prawns Wok Fried with Gloden Salted Egg 咸蛋金沙炒虾球 was also something we enjoyed very much. Salted egg is well balanced with the
fried prawn inside and not overwhelming rich.
Will love to be back to try other dishes someday.
