One Prawn and Co : MUST TRY Prawn Noodle in a Claypot

The popular prawn mee stall from Golden Mile has shifted to a wider space MacPherson road and offering something that we don't usually see - claypot prawn mee.
Nope, it's not claypot noodles. The noodles, be it dry or soup, are served separately from the broth that's extracted from 48kg of prawn heads and pork bones. While most prawn Mee soup tastes more of pork bones than prawns, the Penang Style prawn broth here truly boasts a rich and full bodied flavor of prawns. It's just like having a heartier version of Japanese Tonkotsu Ramen but this experience was more superior as the broth remaining piping hot for long and not cloying at all. Super shiok!
We had the Five Jumbo Prawns Claypot ($30) which had all the ingredients and the Tobiko Prawn Balls and Jumbo Prawns ($22). Even though the sauce base of the noodles were the same, the yellow noodles were tastes slightly heavier than the mix thin-thick bee hoon. If you are ok with normal prawns the basic bowl starting from $14 would be equally satisfying.
I didn't know that it used to be a norm to have ngoh hiang with prawn mee. Here they served ngoh hiang too and the items are freshly fried on the spot. Interesting ones include the water Chestnut cake which tastes like sweet nian gao.
Conclusion: Unique and tasty prawn mee that is worth travelling for. Price point is higher than usual ones and location is not very accessible.
