Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant : Homestyle Roast Duck with Tea Leaves and Other Cantonese Delights

Saw that Xin Cuisine Chinese Restaurant has been garnering quite a lot of social media attention/reviews and decided to check it out for a family dinner on a Sunday evening. Happy to say that most of the food were above average and some were aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
We were the first table at 1730 and thus the food was dished out speedily except when it came to the desserts which took at least a good 20min wait to fire.
The ducks appeared to be the forte. We had both the Homestyle Roast Duck with Tea Leaves as well as the braised yam duck which was curated as part of the special tribute menu to Su Dong Po. For the former, the skin was crispy while the meat wasn't too dry and overly drenched in sauce. Meanwhile, the braised duck for the latter dish was fork-tender and easily pulled apart like a slow cooked beef stew. It was not too heavily seasoned as well.
If you like drunken chicken, the one here is worth trying. The liquor is fragrant and the sauce is mildly sweet.  The Dong Po Rou is another well executed dish that's not flat tasting. The sauce is slightly sweet with a pleasant mushroom taste.
The deep fried prawns with yuzu sauce is a refreshing dish that stays clear from the usual mayonnaise but I"ll prefer something with a sharper acidity. The sauce here was too sweet.
Dishes that sit on the average are the braised beancurd with sea cucumber, 石榴鸡 (top pic) and five-grain fried rice, roasted meat (from the appetizer).
Were disappointed by the presentation of the desserts as they were a far cry from those social media posts. For example the mango sago and lemongrass dessert were both served in a wine glass which makes it looks rather cheap for a Chinese restaurant of such caliber. The sesame ball with chocolate liqueur and red bean was delicious but expect to wait some time for it.
Average price/pax for our meal: $55++
