Mandarin Oriental: A Merry Christmas Lunch

This Christmas Lunch buffet was a pleasant surprise mid-week treat. Even though the spread was not extensive, I am appreciative of the opportunity to savour these good food and very satisfied with the friendly service of the butlers and chefs.

Salad that resembles a Mediterranean-style Seafood Salad with onions, mussels and feta cheese.

Assorted Sandwiches of Egg and watercress, Tuna, and Ham

Roasted Turkey Served with Red wine reduction, mustard and cranberry sauce

The turkey is meant to go with this two side dishes according to what was written on the name card. (Left )Cauliflower & Glazed Carrots in white creamy sauce (right) Herb Roasted potatoes. But they are already good on their own.

Boneless Honey Baked Ham with heavy pineapple sauce & Dijon mustard.
What a beautiful glaze and shine. Though turkey is the classic, I still believed that the ham stole the limelight.

Wild mushrooms and Root Vegetables Moussaka.
This dish reminds me of the Greek Moussaka which I had at Blu. This was less rich but certainly a healthier one.

Traditional Christmas Brandy Fruit Cake with Christmas spices and Dark Rum
It did not matter that the mains were just turkey or ham as it was the desserts that were irresistible to me.

Chocolate fans would rave over this Truffle Buche de Noel , a rich 70% dark Guanaja Chocolate with Brandy-soaked cherries and nougatine and chocolate sponge.

Assorted cookies, but only those that you would see during Xmas like the Gingerbread swirl cookie, Heart-shaped Vanilla Kipferl, Cinnamon Stars, Chocolate chip and Nuts Cookie

Assorted macarons
Meeker raspberry, coffee, peanut butter & hazelnut crunch, black one tasted like Oreo cookie at first but there was some blackberry jam in the center, caramel.
Was glad to have tried every single flavour before they vanished.

Swiss Timber Buche de Noel
Strawberry Bavaroise and Bergamot Tea infused mousse with red berry compote, biscuit joconde with almonds and a crispy Feuillatine at the base.
The Bergamot tea took over the taste of the strawberry bavaroise but it was still delicious. I would prefer this to the chocolate one even though this is sweeter because it's mousse is much lighter and is complemented with contrasting textures.

Traditional Xmas Dredsner Stollen with almonds and Marzipan filling

After having this simple yet sumptuous meal, I am actually contemplating to have some take-aways to indulge in the comforts of my home this Xmas.
