If you are looking for a good value for money Japanese lunch set in Orchard
area, Shinjuku is a place you wouldn't want to miss out. The dining space
has quite a good Japanese atmosphere and there is a daily special lunch item
which will usually be announced on its official website
in advance.
BUTA KIMCHI ITAME + KABOCHA NIMONO 豚キムチ炒め＆かぼちゃの煮物 was the
daily lunch special on the day of our visit. The main dish Pan-fried Pork
with Kimchi comes with Simmered Pumpkin, pickles, japanese rice, miso soup
and dessert of the day-cheese cake. The pan-fried pork wasn't exactly a
Japanese dish but it tasted homey and good.
Besides the daily special lunch set, there is also a regular lunch menu.
We tried out the Nabe Yaki Udon Set ($16.50++) which comes with Tempura,
side dish and fruit.
Overall, the food here feels a bit more like home cooking style and does
not cost a bomb.
