Yes, especially this year when I have returned home to spend the upcoming mid-autumn festival with my grandparents and parents. This year, Bread Talk has introduced a range of traditional and snow skin mooncakes that are centered on the theme "花好月圆、全家团圆". Apart from the 8 new flavours including Green Tea Azuki, Chocolate Brownie, Yuzu Lotus, Jasmine Tea and Black Sesame, they have also launched a limited edition Hello Kitty Mooncakes!
Presented in an elegant blue double-tier box with orchid flower motifs, the "Joyous" series ($63.80) contains 8 pieces of snowskin mooncakes in enrobed with luxurious Varlhona chocolate truffles.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well these mooncakes have been crafted as the lotus paste was restrained in sweetness beneath the smooth, chewy skin of the desired thickness.

My pick goes to the Coffee Baileys as it was highly aromatic and the coffee-infused lotus was intensely mellow. The Cherry Brandy Truffle and Lychee Martini Truffle are two new additions to the series but the 12 years Macallan Whiskey still holds its perennial presence with its clean, robust notes.
Meanwhile, durian fans will be delighted to know that the rich and creamy Mao Shan Wang Durian Snowskin Mooncakes are also available in a box of 8 at $86.80 too.

As for those who prefer the traditional baked mooncakes, why not surprise your family and friends with something "kawaii" like a Hello Kitty mooncakes?
Packed in a red hello kitty makeup toolbox that thoughtfully comes with an exquisite set of fork and knife, the series ($59.80) features 6 pieces of traditional mooncakes in egg yolk, cranberry or macademia nuts flavor.
While this definitely stands out from the crown with its attractive looks, its quality is not compromised either. The basic lotus filling is velvety and even less sweeter than the snowskin series, though it was a little on the dry side. Those who love lotus paste will rejoice at its abundance, though I wish it had not outstripped the thin pastry crust.

Amidst the competitive mooncake market in Singapore, Breadtalk's mooncakes might not be the first one that pop up in my mind. However, now that I have after tasted these sweetly satisfying mooncakes, I am certain that Breadtalk offers more than just fragrant and delicious breads. Pick up a box to share with your loved ones and I'm sure these will put a smile on their faces.
